It is our fourth and final week of Plastic Free July, and this has to be one of our favourite alternatives. We’re here to talk paper wraps, an innovation product and production technique.
So what are paper wraps you ask? Let us tell you…
Paper wrapping a magazine or a catalogue is a great alternative to poly wrap and essentially encloses the magazine and any inserts of varying sizes in paper, down a mailing line. Paper wrapping provides protection for a magazine or a catalogue throughout it’s journey in the post, and one of the exciting benefits of paper wraps is the ability to print on it, meaning it can be sold almost as an advert and which can help contribute towards the cost of the paper wrapping.
What are the benefits?
There are multiple benefits of using these paper wraps, rather than traditional poly, for example:
- Unlike plastic, people are not confused by paper, they know that it can be recycled. Also, publishers and business owners don’t need to write clever messages on the wrapping to let their customers know that the packaging can be recycled or composted.
- Poly wrapping requires commitment to communicating with the end user regarding disposal, which holds it’s own set of challenges.
- There are great advertising opportunities that come with paper wrapping, with the whole wrap providing space for promotion.
- All paper is from FSC accredited forests
We think that these paper wraps are a game changer in the mailing world, and provide a sustainable (and more attractive) alternative to poly/plastic.
